Thread Lift

Non-Surgical Facelift in Manhattan

Thread lifts are a new non-surgical treatment that has taken the world by storm. A thread lift is a minimally invasive alternative to facelift surgery. The process uses medical-grade thread to lift the face and hold it in place. This can be used to sculpt the shape of your face creating a more defined or contoured appearance.

Dr. Espinoza uses Silhouette Soft®, a state-of-the-art suspension suture, to perform thread lifts for both men and women. Silhouette Soft uses a double-action effect to reposition the tissue and gradually regenerate collagen. How Is a Thread Lift Performed?

The process works through two steps. The first uses a thin dissolvable suture placed beneath the skin. Your surgeon is able to pull skin more tightly from your forehead, neck, or torso through the threads. Small painless barbs along the thread hold the skin, ensuring the thread can grip the underlying tissue and muscle.
Your surgeon will then pull the thread tight to keep it in place. When the barbs are inserted, they stimulate the body’s natural healing response. This triggers a boost of collagen production in the area which can help restore skin elasticity and fill in sagging skin. Over time the thread will naturally dissolve, at which point you can choose whether to have a repeat procedure.

Areas That Can Benefit from Thread Lift

Thread lifts can benefit areas that experience sagging skin or are beginning to be less firm. This includes:

  • VForehead
  • VBrowline
  • VUnder eyes
  • VJowls
  • VCheeks
A thread lift can also be used in specific cases to lift and tighten the breasts. This works well for patients who have noticed sagging after pregnancy or weight loss.

Who Is a Candidate For Thread Lift?

Candidates for non-surgical facelifts in NYC should be in good overall health with no active skin infections. Good candidates have begun to notice signs of aging and are typically between their 30’s and 50’s. Thread lifts provide subtle results, so those who are experiencing more severe sagging may be better suited to a surgical procedure such as a facelift, breast lift, or neck lift.

Dr. Espinoza can evaluate your candidacy during your initial consultation. He will evaluate your areas of concern and create a tailor-made treatment plan to address them during this time. Contact our office to schedule your consultation with Dr. Espinoza.

Treatment Steps

The exact steps of your thread lift may vary based on the area being treated. The process takes less than an hour to complete. A thread lift is performed in-office and uses a topical anesthetic.

A thin needle or cannula will be used to insert the threads into place. Once inserted, you may feel some slight pressure or tightness beneath the skin. After the needles are removed, you will be able to return home or even back to work.

After Your Thread Lift

Once the process is complete, there is no downtime! Patients can return to their regular activities and even return right to work. You may be asked to avoid certain forms of exercise as well as saunas for the first week after your thread lift. There may be some minor swelling or bruising, which will resolve on its own within a few days. A thread lift is not permanent and often lasts between 1 and 3 years. The threads will eventually be absorbed by the tissue beneath the skin.

Thread Lift

FAQ

Is it painful?

During the procedure, you will have local anesthesia. Once this wears off, you will experience some pain and swelling where the threads were applied. Dr. Espinoza will recommend medication to ease the discomfort, and cold packs can also help reduce the swelling and pain.

How long do results last?

Most thread lifts will last for 18 months or longer. Once the rejuvenating effects begin to fade, a follow-up thread lift treatment can be performed to maintain your beautiful, youthful results.

Are there any risks?

Thread lifts are a low-risk procedure. Common complications are pain, swelling, reactions to a foreign body, thread extrusion, dimpling, and others.
