Neck Lift

Age can impact almost every area of the body. Time can create sagging skin as well as fine lines and creases. These can reveal our age to the world and even make us appear older than we are. A neck lift is a surgical procedure that can help correct these concerns.
With Dr. Espinoza, your neck lift will be tailored to your specific needs, ensuring each of your concerns is addressed. A neck lift can help walk back the clock and leave patients with a more sculpted and defined neck. Some patients may wish to combine their neck lift with other procedures, including a facelift for a full facial refresh.

The Neck Lift Procedure

A neck lift is a surgical procedure that targets excess skin around the neck. The exact steps of the surgery will vary based on your anatomy and goals for the procedure. A neck lift is often performed under general anesthesia to ensure that you remain comfortable through the procedure. Neck lift incisions are placed in well-concealed areas, such as the crease of the chin or behind the ears.
This ensures that any scarring is well-hidden. The tissues can be tightened and resuspended for a more sculpted appearance through the incisions. You can also add liposuction to the procedure to target excess fat beneath the chin (submental fat) or create a more contoured jawline. The muscles of the neck can also be targeted and retightened.

What Areas
Can Be Targeted?

A neck lift with Dr. Espinoza can help target several areas of concern. This includes:
  • VLines and creases: As we age, our necks can begin to form lines and creases. These can appear both vertically and horizontally. Because the skin of the neck is delicate, these can often appear very pronounced very quickly.
  • VSagging skin: Age can cause skin across the body to sag, and the neck is no exception. Over time our skin can lose its elasticity and begin to droop, eventually sagging more and more.
  • VJawline definition: A well-contoured jawline can vanish over time due to excess weight or the natural aging process.
  • VExcess fat: Fat beneath the chin or along the jawline can make the face appear wider than it is. When combining your neck lift with liposuction, you can target this excess fat to help slim the neck and create a more youthful look.

Neck Lift Recovery

Because a neck lift is an outpatient procedure, you will be able to return to your home the same day. Most patients experience some swelling and bruising after their neck lift. This is common and should resolve on its own. In the first few days after your procedure, your neck may feel tight or constricted, but this is just part of the adjustment process. It is recommended patients recover for 7 to 10 days before returning to work or other activities.
More strenuous activities, including exercise, should be avoided for four weeks or until you have received the all-clear from your surgeon. To ensure you are adequately prepared, Dr. Espinoza will provide you with post-operative care instructions before your surgery.
