PRP

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) can dramatically improve your skin’s tone and texture. This revolutionary treatment has been used for many years in the medical field for wound repair and repairing tissue damage. When used on the skin, PRP can help regenerate the skin, leaving you with improved skin quality and a lasting glow.

What Is PRP?

PRP stands for “platelet-rich-plasma”. Plasma is found in the blood and contains platelets that help create blood clots and support cell growth. During a PRP treatment, the plasma is isolated and injected into the skin. This process helps regenerate the skin from within, leading to an improved complexion. It can also stimulate collagen production, which can help skin appear younger, more firm, and supple.

Benefits of PRP

PRP can be used to help achieve the following benefits:

  • VEven skin tone
  • VFade acne scars
  • VIncrease hydration
  • VReduce redness
  • VRejuvenate and regenerate skin
  • VStimulate collagen production
  • VSmooth fine lines and wrinkles

How Is PRP Performed?

A PRP treatment is performed in three easy steps. The first step is to draw blood from the patient. Once this is complete, the blood is run through a centrifuge.
This machine can separate the plasma from the other components of the blood. The plasma is then injected into areas in need of rejuvenation. Over the next several weeks, your skin will continue to improve gradually, leading to skin that is more hydrated, supple, and youthful.

Your Treatment

When you arrive for your treatment, you will first have your blood drawn. After this, one of our specialists will run the blood through the centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma. Then the PRP will be injected into specific areas of the skin using a small needle. For those who have used dermal fillers, the needle is roughly the same size. After this, you will be able to return to your regular activities.

After Your PRP Treatment

Most PRP treatments take less than an hour to complete. There is no recovery required, and most patients can immediately carry on with their day after treatment. You may experience some redness or pinprick bleeding at the injection site, which will resolve within a few hours.

You will begin to notice your results after three to four weeks. Some of the earliest visible signs of your treatment will be improved hydration and a more even complexion. After four to six weeks, you will start to notice improvements in facial volume, as well as fine lines and wrinkles. During this time, your collagen production will be improving and continue to show improvements for the next several months. We recommend receiving several treatments spaced every four to eight weeks for best results.

Who Is a Candidate?

PRP injections can benefit a wide variety of patients, including those looking to improve acne scars, dry skin, and uneven skin tone. It can help address common signs of aging, including volume loss, fine lines, and wrinkles. As we age, our production of collagen can slow down. Collagen is one of the critical components to keeping skin lifted and youthful, so when the production decreases, it can lead to skin that has lost its elasticity and begun to sag.

Candidates for PRP are those looking for a way to address these concerns and achieve subtle, natural-looking results.
