Breast Augmentation

Have you ever wanted larger breasts? Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure to increase the size of your bust with breast implants or the fat transfer technique. Modern techniques for breast augmentation can give you fuller, perkier breasts that look and feel natural at an affordable price.

If you’ve lost a significant amount of weight recently, you may have a smaller waist now, but you’re wishing for a larger chest. Breast augmentation can make that wish come true. The result is a slender figure with curves in all the right places.

In New York and South Florida, plastic surgeon Dr. Ron Espinoza has a special talent for creating the breasts you’ve always wanted.

There are two ways to perform a breast augmentation. One way is with custom-fitted implants. The other way is with fat transfer and liposuction. Breast implants are relatively permanent although your implants may need to be replaced at some point. Fat transfer breast augmentation can produce a more natural-looking result than implants, but it can also take longer to achieve the final look with fat transfer.

Breast Lift

Breast lift surgery, or mastopexy, can be done in combination with breast augmentation. A breast lift can restore breasts to their normal, youthful shape. After pregnancy or significant weight loss, the breasts can become flat or deflated. They need a lift. A cosmetic surgeon like Dr. Espinoza can remove excess skin and tighten the surrounding tissues.

What to Expect During Breast Augmentation Surgery

The surgical procedure is done under IV sedation or general anesthesia, depending on what you and the doctor think is most appropriate.

Breast Implants

Dr. Espinoza will also discuss the location and size of the incisions, which can be made under the areola, under the breast, or in the armpit. The type of incision will depend on the type of implant, size of implant, and your body shape.

Once he makes the incision, Dr. Espinoza will place the implant into a pocket that exists under or over the pectoral muscle. Placement also depends on the type and size of the implant and your body. Stitches or surgical tape will be used to close the incision.

Breast Fat Transfer

Small incisions are made to fit a small tube into the area of excess fat that is being transferred. A surgical vacuum sucks the fat tissue out through the tube. The fat is then processed and prepared to be re-injected. More small incisions are made to the breasts, and the removed fat is added beneath the skin to achieve the desired enlargement.

What to Expect After Breast Augmentation Surgery

After surgery, your breasts will be wrapped in gauze with an elastic bandage. You will be discharged within a few hours after the surgery, but you will need to recover with little or no activity for a few days at home.

You will need to wear a support bra while you heal during the first week or two. Keeping the incision sites clean and free of infection is very important. Soreness and swelling typically lasts for 2-3 weeks. It can take a few months for the incision scars to fade. As the swelling and scars go away, your new silhouette will emerge.

Breast augmentation is the most common type of cosmetic plastic surgery, but breast lift surgery has become increasingly popular recently. Many women are doing both. When choosing the right plastic surgeon for the job, you want someone who will take time to sculpt the breast tissue like a piece of art, and Dr. Espinoza has that eye for beauty.
